Katy Binks

Katy Binks is an artist who lives and works in London. Her practice is rooted in experimental printmaking, particularly screen printing and monotype, and extends to murals and installations.

Central to her practice is an open, experimental approach to the medium of printmaking. Rather than using screen printing purely as a means of producing reproducible editions, Binks foregrounds the printing process itself, treating it as a form of experimentation. Halftone screens derived from photographic sources, subtle gradients and deliberately retained irregularities in the registration of printed layers are not concealed, but become essential elements of the composition. Colour, overprinting, transparency and texture remain visible and legible in the finished work. The result is a body of work in which precisely set structures meet chance and processuality. In this way, each print becomes an object with its own material presence, not a reproducible multiple, but a unique piece.

Katy Binks studied Drawing & Printmaking at the University of East London before completing her MA in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts in London.
