Jonathan Lawes

Jonathan Lawes is a contemporary artist and designer. After graduating from Leeds College of Art (now Leeds Arts University) in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design, Jonathan spent several formative years in Berlin before returning to the United Kingdom.

In his studio in southeast London, he creates vibrantly colored abstract works whose visually powerful compositions uniquely blend art and design. His distinctive visual language is characterized by a finely balanced interplay of form, color, and texture, underpinned by an intuitive sense of balance and rhythm. This style emerges through a process-oriented, experimental approach to screen printing. Layer by layer, organic, abstract compositions of shapes, patterns, and hues take shape.

Jonathan Lawes’ works have been exhibited internationally and have led to collaborations with renowned brands in the fields of interior design, fashion, and lifestyle, including The Conran Shop, COS, Oliver Spencer, Joseph Joseph, and Gandia Blasco.
