Marije Lytske Hester

Marije Lytske Hester is a graphic designer, artist, and print designer from the Netherlands. She studied textile print design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After holding several jobs as a print designer in the commercial fashion industry, she sought an opportunity to work in Asia to be closer to the production process. She eventually found such an opportunity and moved to Beijing in 2014. This decision has had a lasting impact on her work. Her designs are significantly influenced by Chinese culture, major Asian cities, and everything found within them: the number of people stacked on top of one another in their massive skyscrapers, the seemingly endless array of neon signs, and the multitude of dialects spoken on the streets. Marije recently returned to the Netherlands to print her original designs and process her experiences from the past four years in China.
