Marlene Bart

Marlene Bart studied at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig, the Villa Arson (École nationale supérieure d'art) in Nice, and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She is currently a graduate student under Professor Wolfgang Ellenrieder. In her work, Marlene explores the connection between scientific and artistic visual language. She focuses in particular on the artistic potential of scientific illustrations found in reference works such as encyclopedias and atlases. The use of printmaking techniques allows Marlene to playfully combine a wide variety of visual elements, to reference the historical dimension of scientific publications, and to place them in a contemporary context.
