Moriava

Moriava is an interdisciplinary Slovak artist who currently lives and works in Berlin. She grew up in Liptovský Hrádok, a town situated between two national parks. During this time, Moriava developed a strong connection to the nature surrounding her and a special understanding of the complex relationship between humans and the environment. For her artistic practice, Moriava primarily uses materials she finds at flea markets, in thrift stores, and in nature. Through her work, she places these materials in a new context, upcycles them, and gives them a new visual quality in the form of sculptures, textile and costume art, drawings, and prints. For her prints, Moriava uses exclusively paper made from natural fibers or recycled paper, which she prints on using residue-free, non-toxic color pigments.
